September 27, 2014. Continuing the tradition, ANQ members, friends & families residing in Montreal and surrounding cities celebrated Dashain, the biggest festival of Nepal, in Montreal, Canada. The program was organized by Association of Nepalese in Quebec (ANQ).

Dashain is the longest and the most auspicious festival, celebrated by Nepalese throughout Nepal and round the globe. The fifteen days of celebration occurs during the bright lunar fortnight ending on the day of the full moon. Through out the festival, the goddess Durga in all her manifestations is worshiped with innumerable prayers (pujas). For Hindus, this festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil. During the festival, all family members return to home to celebrate the festival together and get blessings from elders. (read more about Dashain)

Dr. Hemant Paudel, ANQ Advisor, Prakash Mungrati – former ANQ President, Pabitra Upadhaya – NRN Vice President and Muga Rajbhandari – ANQ President wished a very Happy Dashain and highlighted the importance of Dashain in our culture. The program was hosted by Deepak Shrestha, ANQ Secretary.

Other interesting dance was performed by Mina Sherpa and Sabina Boutet. Looking to the demand of crowd, Usha Mungrati came back again with yet another wonderful dancing show.
