Ladies in Red- Teej 2013 Celebration:

Another successful Teej celebration event was organized by the ANQ Women and Children Sub-committee on Saturday, September 7th 2013 at the well-known William Hingston hall in Park-Extension.

ANQ Vice President Mrs. Gita Prajuli welcomed all the participants and wished all a "Happy Teej".  ANQ Women and Children Subcommittee Co-ordinator Mrs. Mala Budha Magar and member Suprabha Shrestha have also extended Teej's wishes to the community members.

This time we wanted to try something closer to our roots and went the vegetarian dishes while planning the menu. The final feast displayed on Saturday showed a great variety of healthy and delicious home-made Nepalese Dar.

All participants mingled among the crowd, some were not having seen each other since the last get-together. While a playlist of popular Teej songs played in the background, everyone seemed to have a great time, dancing, eating and most of all enjoying the precious company by our community. Many dancing feet were ever-present throughout the afternoon; some opted for solo dancing, wowing everyone presented with the finesse and elegance of their dance whereas others were just happy grooving with the rest of the crowd, occasionally sitting or jumping up as songs changed.

All in all, it was wonderful seeing a group of beautiful ladies adorned in beautiful bright sarees showcasing their Nepalese culture, something that the young girls in the room surely did not fail to notice.

We would like to thank all participants. A special thanks to Women and Children Sub-committee - Mala Budha Magar, Gita Parajuli and Sraddha Bista for organizing such a big event. We would also like to thank Sujita Lamichhane, Neeru Bhandari, Deepa Paudel, Rupa Shrestha, Nirmala Kunwor and Prativa Baral for helping us in organization process and Uttam Bhandari for untangling and fixing up our speakers!

We hope to see you all again in next year’s annual Teej festivities!
